What are 'graduate and professional' programs?

Graduate schools focus on building technical expertise in a specific area of study and offer master’s degrees and doctorates. Professional schools, such as vet school and medical school, focus on preparing students for careers through more real-world application and offer professional degrees.

Most graduate information is specific to our different colleges and schools and their programs. Make sure to reach out to the department you’re applying to for specific admissions information, such as deadlines and required documents.

Nonrefundable Processing Fee

The $65 fee (in addition to a centralized application service processing fee) is required to process an application for admission. This fee may be waived only in exceptional cases for low-income applicants and McNair Scholars.

Official Transcripts and Records

You must submit transcripts from all colleges or universities attended (excluding community colleges) for review via the respective application service. If you are admitted and intend to enroll, you must provide an official transcript directly to the Office of Admissions before you can register for classes. You do not need to submit a Texas A&M transcript, but you may be asked to upload one to the centralized application service.

Test score requirements vary by program. Required test scores should be sent directly from the testing agency. Most scores expire after five years.

You may be required to provide recommendations from individuals who are familiar with your academic achievement and potential. If you have been out of school for several years and are unable to contact former professors, you may submit nonacademic references, such as employers.

Statements of purpose are used to gauge whether an applicant will be a good fit in the program based on research interests and prior experiences. You may be required to submit either a resume or curriculum vitae. Resumes should include your employment history, educational record, publications, awards, and community and volunteer experiences. Your curriculum vitae should outline your academic experience.
